Botox has become the most popular non-surgical treatment used to address natural aging by reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Botox is a purified protein that comes from neurotoxin Botulinum Toxin Type A. These toxins are released by a bacterium called Clostridium Botulinum. It has been approved by the FDA since 2002 for the purpose of reducing forehead lines and it has then been used to treat a wide range of conditions.

How does BOTOX work?

Facial muscles move when you make certain expressions, over time this movement produces wrinkles. When a small diluted amount of BOTOX is injected into the skin, it blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles, temporarily paralyzing the facial muscles. This process causes the wrinkles to relax and soften.

The procedure is quick, painless and requires no downtime.

How long does BOTOX last?

The results of BOTOX can last 3-6 months, however every patient is different and the exact length of time of your results will vary depending on different factors:
  • Muscle strength: If you have strong facial muscles, they will be more resistant to the paralyzing effect the neurotoxin has on them. When this happens you will require more botox.
  • Follow up treatment: With the proper follow up it is possible for your results to last even longer than the average.
